Farewell Christian!

Since 2015, Christian has overseen our Montana efforts by supervising facets of a number of large-scale bird monitoring programs, including the Montana Integrated Monitoring in Bird Conservation Regions program (IMBCR) and the World Wildlife Fund Sustainable Ranching Initiative (WWF-SRI). With his home base in Montana, he roamed the state and very effectively managed all aspects of these projects, including hiring and supervising an 8-10 person field crew each summer, covering everywhere from the eastern grasslands to the steep forested slopes with grizzlies in western Montana.

While working for IBO, he was always passionate about conservation on private lands and dedicated much of his time to working with landowners; so much so that many would anxiously await his annual letter to share the list of birds we found during that summer’s surveys on a given ranch. In Fall 2021, Christian began a new job with Montana Audubon working as their Conservation Ranching Manager. Though we will definitely miss having Christian on our team, we know he will thrive in his new position with Audubon and we wish him well!
