EURECA

EURECA (Excellence in Undergraduate REsearch and Creative Activity) is a newly instituted graduation cord that seeks to recognize Boise State students who have demonstrated commitment to development as a researcher or in creative work while pursuing their undergraduate degree.

Students completing requirements for EURECA will be recognized at an end of semester recognition ceremony and will receive a certificate and an honor cord from the Institute for Inclusive and Transformative Scholarship (IFITS) to wear at commencement.

This recognition is meant to be bestowed upon graduating students. The cording ceremonies will take place during the VIP Showcase in Fall, and the Undergraduate Research Showcase in the Spring.

Deadlines

EURECA will be awarded twice a year for graduating students. Note below the deadlines for the spring and fall semesters.

FALL Semester: November 10

SPRING Semester: March 31

Requirements

Students are required to fulfill ALL THREE requirements below:

1. DO: Two semesters of research/creative activity. At least two semesters of research/creative activity with a Boise State University faculty mentor/supervisor.
   At least 1 credit worth of effort (45 hours) each semester with a total of at least 3 credits worth of effort (135 hours) spread over at least two semesters.
2. SHARE: Publication, Workshop, Performance, or Exhibition. Either submit your research for publication to a conference or journal (this can include the abstract published in the conference program at which your research or creative work was presented – in number 3 below), or perform/exhibit your work in an appropriate setting.
3. REFLECT: Public Presentation. Present your research or creative work at a conference to share reflections and procedures about the work. Some possible venues (not exclusive) are:

a. Spring Undergraduate Research Showcase (poster or lightning talk) (URS)
b. Idaho Conference on Undergraduate Research (poster or lightning talk)  (ICUR)
c. College/School -specific Senior Showcase presentation
d. Other local, state, national, or international research conference presentation

Note that this can be in addition to a creative presentation elsewhere (recital, play, art show, etc.). For the conference presentation, at URS or ICUR, such works can be presented with “the better poster template” with a simple title, descriptive sentence, or picture.

Application

Apply during the semester in which you will graduate. You will be asked to provide verification of the requirements listed above.

Complete the EURECA Application Form indicating at least two semesters of research or creative work and the faculty mentor(s) with whom you worked. A verification request will be sent to the College of the faculty mentor(s) listed in your application.
