Exciting collaboration announced

Albertsons Library is partnering with the Advising and Academic Support Center (AASC) to create The Bronco Learning Commons. This is a welcoming environment, free from judgment. We encourage students to leave any insecurities behind and trust that staff and peers are here to help them gain confidence, improve their academics and teach them how to tap into the resources they need to write their own success story.

Learning comes in all shapes and sizes. It’s not always quiet and it isn’t always streamlined. This vibrant, nurturing space is centrally located for convenience. You’ll find it on the library’s first floor (back, right hand side), and it’s set up with white boards and white board tables.

“Conversation is fundamental in the library. It’s how we learn. Traditionally, that ‘learning’ takes place when we have a ‘conversation’ with the author of the textbook we are reading. But, more often, the learning happens when talking to a professor, a peer, or even a barber,” shares Tod Colegrove, the library’s dean.

The partnership provides interdisciplinary academic support from staff, faculty and peer academic consultants. AASC is working across campus to bring in instructors and academic support partners who represent a wide variety of subjects.

Matt Schmasow, associate director of academic support said, “AASC is so excited to partner with the library. We truly seek to provide an academic support space where all of our students, staff and instructors feel welcome. Albertsons Library is an amazing collaborator for this vision. We can’t wait to grow this space into a hub for student success!”
