Inclusivity statement

The mission statement of the Department of Mathematics at Boise State University affirms a commitment to supporting persons of diverse backgrounds in an inclusive environment. We affirm the right of all students to pursue their education free from sexism, racism, ageism, ableism, and any other form of exclusionary language or action. We acknowledge that education is a transformative experience that may challenge assumptions, beliefs, and perspectives; we do not believe that discriminatory actions or statements must be tolerated as part of that process. We foster skills and understandings that empower students to succeed academically and contribute to society through expanding frontiers of knowledge.  

We are committed to this mission and strive to create and nurture an inclusive department culture. We work to reflect the best of ourselves through showing respect to others. Our community gains strength through diversity and we welcome all who choose to come. We recognize the hurt than can be caused when this commitment to inclusivity and respect is compromised.
