MEC PLUS partners with schools to deliver customized, high quality math teacher professional development and support for local initiatives.

Intensive & Embedded

Lesson Study

Two facilitated cycles for teachers to research, plan, implement, revise, reteach, and reflect upon a math lesson with a focus on student learning.  Lesson Study typically lasts 5 days per grade-band team, including a kick-off (1 day), 2 cycles in fall & spring (1/2 day to plan + 1 day to teach), and Wrap-up (1 day).

Math Teaching Modules

15 hour courses to dig into math content, pedagogy, and student thinking. Available face-to-face, online, or hybrid.

  • Addition & Subtraction (K-2)
  • Modeling Fraction Representations (3-5)
  • Multiplication Contexts and Representations (3-5)
  • Proportional Reasoning to Functions (6-9)
Customized & In-depth

Unit Study

Tied to specific curriculum, Unit Study helps small groups of teachers unpack curriculum, optimize the use of materials, and translate effective instructional practices to local contexts. Typically includes a kick-off meeting, 4 days to analyze specific units during the school year, ongoing communication, and an end-of-year celebration to reflect on progress and next steps.
