MEC+ partners with school districts — in Idaho and across the country — to deliver customized, high-quality math professional development. Offerings differ by district and are tailored to local needs. Please contact Michele Carney (michelecarney@boisestate.edu) to discuss options.
The offerings highlighted below represent a sample of our most requested professional development — not the full catalog. Every engagement is shaped around your district’s goals, so reach out to talk through what’s possible.
Math Content Courses
15-45 hours courses (with PD credit available) that dig into grade-band specific math content, models, and student thinking, with pedagogy embedded throughout. Available at different depths depending on district needs — from a single-topic module to a full course spanning a grade band’s content — and offered fully online, hybrid, or in-person.
Lesson Study
Facilitated cycles for teacher teams to research, plan, teach, and reflect on a math lesson with a focus on student learning. Typically includes a kick-off, two cycles of planning and teaching, and a wrap-up.
Unit Study
Tied to a district’s specific curriculum, Unit Study helps small groups of teachers unpack materials and translate effective instructional practices into their classrooms — through a kick-off, ongoing collaborative sessions during the year, and an end-of-year reflection.
District Initiatives
Expert help developing and implement a professional development support plan with district personnel to meet local needs, such as:
- Curriculum Adoption
- Lesson Study
- Math Content & Pedagogy Workshops
