NEW Leadership

This one credit, two day workshop is a nonpartisan public leadership program addressing the underrepresentation of women in politics. During the workshop, participants will learn about the important role that politics plays in their lives, develop leadership skills applicable in both the public and private sector, and connect with leaders dedicated to making a difference in their communities.

Information

NEW Leadership Idaho is a two-day, one-credit workshop held on campus at Boise State University. The workshop teaches students about politics and policy making; connects students with leaders who make a difference; helps students explore the demands of justice based, effective, and ethical leadership in a diverse society; cultivates students’ leadership skills and  enables students to practice leadership through action. Students will become familiar with a variety of leadership styles and will be given the chance to develop the skills needed to take advantage of a wide range of political activities and hands-on opportunities to affect public policy.

The 2026 workshop will accept 30 students, and will take place on two consecutive Saturdays in the spring semester: February 28 and March 7. Interested students should register for the course (POLS, LEAD, CONFLICT, URBAN, ENVSTD, or GLOBAL 494) and fill out the application form to be given a permission number for registration.

Students sit along the speaker's desk.
