Albertsons Library increases contactless services and curbside pick-up

Albertsons Library now offers more patron options that are contactless and don’t require a visit to the library building. This complements the university’s increased health and safety protocols. The changes are in response to the university encouraging a limited number of people on campus after the fall break and continuing until the start of spring semester.

Earlier this year, the Department of Public Safety worked with Albertsons Library to open the booth in the East Plaza visitor parking lot (next to the B) for curbside pick-up. By providing access to a campus resource typically reserved for parking management, Public Safety helped the library provide a safe, convenient way for patrons to get their materials.

While the library is still open, hold and interlibrary loan requests will default to curbside pick-up. Faculty and staff requests, typically placed on the hold shelves or mailed to their department, also will shift to curbside pick-up.

To better support the Boise community, the library is offering new services including online applications for special borrower cards and receiving items via curbside pick-up.

Patrons will be sent an email in which they can make an appointment to retrieve their items. To assist in the ease of this transition, the library has expanded the times available to schedule each week to 9-10 a.m. Monday-Friday and 5-6 p.m. Monday and Thursday.
