Join in celebrating April, Boise State’s Research and Creative Activity month

Every April, Boise State University proudly celebrates the diverse and rich research and creative scholarship happening on campus as part of Research and Creative Activity Month. During the month of April, faculty and students have many opportunities to exhibit their research and celebrate the tremendous creativity and ingenuity of our community’s research and scholarly efforts.

Join your campus in celebrating Research and Creative Activity month by celebrating with these events:

        • April 1: Research and Creative Activity Mixer for faculty and research staff at the Alumni and Friends Center Ballroom from 4 to 6 p.m. The Mixer will feature a live presentation by Boise State arts faculty as well as video highlights by campus videographer Matt Crook, celebrating the university’s diverse research and creative activity portfolio. Hors d’oeuvres will be served and alcoholic beverages will be available for purchase. RSVP to attend this new event. Capacity will be limited.
        • April 6-8: Graduate Student Showcase.
        • April 7: Idaho Entrepreneur Challenge hosted by the Venture College.
        • April 8: Lightning Talk: ‘New Models for Collaboration’,  a virtual event hosted by the Center for Research and Creative Activity from 11 a.m. to noon. RSVP for Zoom link.
        • April 9: Bronco Day, welcome future Broncos at this day-long event.
        • April 18: Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP) Sponsored Project Lifecycle: This event will explore the basics of OSP Pre-Award, including an overview of the OSP Pre-Award process, the roles and responsibilities of the Pre-Award Research Administrators, and key information for proposal submissions. Similarly, we’ll discuss OSP Contracting basics, including roles, responsibilities, and expectations when entering into awards, subawards, and other related agreements, and more. The event will be held from from 10 to 11 a.m. To register, email osp@boisestate.edu.
        • April 19: Software Carpentry Workshop (Virtual): Introduction to the Unix Shell, hosted by the Office of Research Computing.
        • April 22: Undergraduate Research Showcase,  join the campus community for this all-day virtual showcase featuring Boise State University student research talks and poster presentation.
        • April 22 – May 6: Visit the Spark Change Exhibit in the Center for Visual Arts second floor Pop Up Gallery. Through this exhibit, Boise State’s department of Environmental Health, Safety, and Sustainability, in partnership with US Energy and the School of the Arts, seeks to exhibit innovative creators whose original creations speak to the theme of environmental sustainability. Stay tuned for exhibit reception details to be hosted on April 22.
        • April 25: “Show Me the Money: What you need to know about Facilities and Administrative Costs (F&A).” The presentation will cover why we have F&A rates, how they are calculated and the negotiation process, and how the recovered funds are allocated to various units. This session will be hosted from 1 to 2 p.m.. To register, email osp@boisestate.edu
        • April 26: Research Computing Orientation. Elizabeth Leake, OIT Director of Research Computing Services, will provide an overview of the resources and services that are available to the Boise State research community. This one-hour event will be held at 11:00 a.m. To register, email researchcomputing@boisestate.edu.
        • April 27: College of Engineering Design Showcase, in-person from 4 to 6 p.m. in Micron Center for Materials Research. Over 60 student teams from all departments will present their year-long research and projects.
        • April 27: Power Talks “Electric Vehicle Infrastructure, Policy, and Fleet Change” hosted by the CAES Energy Policy Institute
        • April 28: State of Research Address, a virtual hour-long event hosted by the Division of Research and Economic Development, details to follow.
        • April 29: Research Computing Orientation. Elizabeth Leake, OIT Director of Research Computing Services, will provide an overview of the resources and services that are available to the Boise State research community.
