Feb. 20 ‘Growth and transportation in the Treasure Valley’ discussion, all are welcome

Beginning Feb. 20, the Hazard and Climate Resiliency Consortium will be hosting three monthly round table discussions leading up to the Resilience Conference in May. The theme of these discussions will be “Towards Resilient Community.”

February’s topic will be “Growth and Transportation in the Treasure Valley,” and will be held noon-1:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 20, in the Student Union Building Boyington Room. This month’s round table will involve a lively discussion on:

  • Current and future planning efforts
  • Research being done related to this topic
  • Existing information gaps and challenges and how the Boise State community can collaborate with community partners to tackle these

Special guests at this event include Community Planning Association of Southwest Idaho (COMPASS) and Idaho Smart Growth.

All are welcome, and those with an interest in urban growth, transportation, resilience, community planning, economics, etc. are encouraged to attend. Areas of interest may also include big data, social equity, engineering and environmental sustainability.

Each session will produce:

  • A list of existing projects on this topic
  • A summary of existing challenges and needs
  • Connections made between attendees

These outcomes will be summarized and presented at the spring Resilience Conference on May 1.
