Boise State community poised to 3D print vital medical equipment
As the coronavirus continues to affect all of us at Boise State and around the world, our students, faculty and staff are stepping up to serve communities near and far in innovative, collaborative, and creative ways.
Amy Vechione, an associate professor and director of experiential learning in the Albertsons Library Maker Lab, and Griff Allen, manager of the Engineering Innovation Studio in the College of Engineering, are two people doing just that. They were concerned about a shortage of personal protective equipment for nurses and doctors in local hospitals. So, they assembled a team of more than 40 students and staff who are now utilizing 3D printing in an effort to make sure those shortages don’t happen.
