Amanda Giomi, MSN, RN, CNL

Clinical Assistant Professor

Amanda Giomi, MSN, RN, CNL, is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the School of Nursing at Boise State University. She brings over a decade of combined academic and clinical experience, with a focus on preparing future nurses for the realities of professional practice. Her teaching experience includes foundational and intermediate medical-surgical nursing, clinical instruction, and nursing skills development.

Before joining Boise State, Giomi served in faculty roles across institutions in California and Idaho. She has developed and taught coursework in fundamentals, gerontologic, and med-surg nursing, while contributing to curriculum design, assessment strategies, and student learning outcomes. Her approach to nursing education blends academic rigor with real-world relevance, empowering students to build confidence and clinical judgment.

Giomi’s background as a registered nurse includes bedside care in medical-surgical, telemetry, renal, and surgical settings. She has also led nursing initiatives in staff development, patient education, and interdisciplinary collaboration. Her clinical insights enrich her teaching and support a compassionate, evidence-based learning environment.

She earned her Master of Science in Nursing from Dominican University of California in 2014, along with Clinical Nurse Leader (CNL) certification. She also holds an associate degree in natural science and physiology from Santa Rosa Junior College.

Giomi relocated to Idaho in 2022 with her husband and their two sons. As the wife of a combat Army veteran and first responder, she is passionate about mental health and resiliency—particularly how these issues impact both nurses and first responder families. She has written on this topic and appeared with her husband on podcasts discussing the family dynamics of high-stress professions.

Giomi is committed to helping students develop not only as skilled clinicians, but as resilient and reflective caregivers who can thrive in the complex world of healthcare.
