The School of Nursing anniversary event, held at the Norco Building on Oct. 19, 2011, celebrated alumni from 1958, 1959, 1960 and 1961. In 2010, the 50th anniversary of 1960 graduates was held and, in 2011, the 50th anniversary of 1961 graduates was held. The 2011 event also honored alumni from the first two nursing classes, 1958 and 1959, since their graduation years predated the inauguration of the annual event in 2010.
Alumni attendees were:
1958: Shirleen Linderer Erickson, Boise; and Janis Pierce Zimmerman, Garden City.
1959: Harriet Anderson Crosby, Caldwell; and Norma Deppe Jasperson Vermillion, Caldwell; Bonnie Lambert, Meridian; Karen Reid McMurtrie, Meridian; and Donna Schaefer Moriarity, Portland, Ore.
1960: Marvel Hosford Boydstun, Boise
1961: Barbara Hill Ross, Horseshoe Bend; Newton States and wife of 65 years, Esther, Emmett; Edna Waldrum and husband, Dick, Twin Falls; and Francis Storey Addy, Boise. Faculty member Barbara Eno, Boise, also attended.
Visiting was followed by an Asian buffet and program where each alumnus received a certificate and gift. Guests were treated to a narrated bus tour of Boise State and a tour of the School of Nursing. In the evening, some alumni attended the Alumni Association sponsored social and dinner. Comments to an informal survey conducted a week later were “very nice,” “very well done,” “First time I have ever felt like a ‘Queen for the Day’!” and “…nothing but good to say about the whole day!”
