Boise State Online launches new Master of Business Administration in Marketing Leadership

Boise State Online and the College of Business and Economics are excited to announce the new online Master of Business Administration in Marketing Leadership. This specialization expands the list of existing Master of Business Administration emphasis areas: management, health care leadership and construction management.

The marketing leadership emphasis area builds on foundational business knowledge provided by the Master of Business Administration program. It centers Master of Business Administration curriculum around data-driven decision making, customer-centric innovation and strategic leadership. Its unique courses expose students to broader functional areas within marketing and equip them with the tools and confidence needed to lead and master new marketing concepts.

“Today’s business environment is uncertain and ever-changing,” said Ally Daniels, director of the Online Master of Business Administration and Professional Master of Business Administration programs. “Marketing leaders serve a critical role in assessing markets and responding for optimal customer and revenue growth. We want to position this emphasis as a forward-looking view into the marketing industry, helping create agile, innovative leaders prepared to make an impact.”

Preparing the next generation of marketing leaders

With the rise of digital marketing and influx of data and customer input, the role of the marketing leader has shifted dramatically. While marketing professionals traditionally focused on advertising and sales, organizations are realizing successful marketing teams need to impact strategy, innovation, communication and branding as well. Marketing leaders need to be knowledgeable and competent in bringing groups of marketing experts together toward a common goal.

The marketing leadership emphasis area uses a design thinking approach to marketing from a customer-centric perspective. Courses in strategic product management unite the goal of creating the best products for users with the organization’s need to manage an innovation pipeline of new products and services.

Within the program, an entire course dedicated to sharing leadership, strategy and communication tactics helps students broaden their view of marketing and top-level functions of management. The program’s focus on leadership development prepares graduates to execute strategy and lead teams that span advertising, sales, data analytics, product development and communication.
