Boise State Online introduces nonprofit management certificate and accountancy minor

Two exciting programs from Boise State Online are set to launch in fall 2024, pending approval by the Idaho State Board of Education. The online Bachelor of Business Administration is expanding its curriculum to include a new minor in accountancy and a new nonprofit management certificate.

Certificate in Nonprofit Management

Prepare for a career in nonprofit leadership, budget management, fundraising and more with Boise State’s online Certificate in Nonprofit Management. This 12-credit interdisciplinary program focuses on nonprofit management and community development efforts. With no admissions requirements or prerequisites, this certificate program is accessible to you, eager to make a difference in the nonprofit sector.

The curriculum includes foundational courses such as Introduction to Nonprofit Management and Volunteer Management, specialized courses in funding for nonprofits and professional communication for managers. Upon completion, you will be equipped with the skills to distinguish between the roles and responsibilities of nonprofit management and governance, advocate effectively, evaluate organizational needs, understand risk management and policies and develop strategies for fund development. Additionally, you will have opportunities for hands-on experience through internships, service learning, community service and experiential learning.

Minor in Accountancy Hybrid Program

Boise State’s online Bachelor of Business Administration in Management (BBA) now offers you the option to specialize in accounting with the inclusion of an accountancy minor. This hybrid program allows you to use your elective credits to delve into accounting foundations while pursuing your BBA. With a seamless pathway to Boise State’s online Master of Science in Accountancy, completing the accountancy minor serves as a fast track for you if you’re looking to advance your career in accounting.

The accountancy minor consists of 15 credits, including courses in the foundations of the accounting profession, federal income taxation, intermediate accounting, cost accounting and accounting information systems. By completing the accountancy minor, you will develop a solid foundation in accounting essentials, positioning yourself for success in the field and meeting the admission requirements for the online Master of Science in Accountancy.
