Admissions Requirements

To be considered for the online Certificate in Diagnostic Medical Sonography, applicants must meet the following requirements:

• Credentialed, clinically-based healthcare provider matriculated from an accredited institution (AS/AAS degree minimum)
• Students need to have taken anatomy and physiology (BIOL 227 and 228) to be admitted into the certificate
• Proof of medical professional credentials
• Resume outlining patient care experience
• Acceptance into Boise State University
• Students pursuing DMS must apply through the on-campus program if they want clinical placement in the Treasure Valley, Idaho, area.

Clinical Placement Deadlines

Clinical placement deadlines ensure approval of an appropriate clinical site in time for your first clinical experience course. Your program director will approve the site based on accreditation and credentialing standards for your modality. The program’s clinical affiliation coordinator will achieve a clinical affiliation agreement on your behalf.

During this process, you can be enrolled as a pre-advanced medical imaging student to complete prerequisites and other courses.

• Fall clinical placement deadline: April 15 (spring prior to Clinical Experience I).
• Spring clinical placement deadline: September 15 (fall prior to Clinical Experience I).

To Apply For This Program

Step 1 – Apply to Boise State University

Complete the Boise State Undergraduate Admissions Application. On the Major and Semester page within the application, select “Diagnostic Medical Sonography, Online Program” from the Select a Major drop-down list.

Step 2 – Request Official Transcripts

Request official transcript(s) from all previous colleges and universities you attended.

If you have served in the military, please make sure to send your Joint Services Transcript and/or Community College of the Air Force transcript.
