Dr. Heidi Wu Receives Prestigious DOE Early Career Award

Assistant Professor Dr. Heidi Wu is the first university faculty member in Idaho to be awarded a U.S. Department of Energy Early Career Award.   This highly competitive and prestigious award for junior faculty supports research critical to the nation’s leadership in science innovation.  The five-year, $750,000 award will support Dr. Wu’s scientific research on the accelerated expansion of the Universe.  Using two of the Department of Energy’s major experiments, the Dark Energy Survey and the Vera Rubin Observatory (pictured), Dr. Wu’s team will study the detailed formation history of cosmic structure in order to better understand the origin of cosmic acceleration.
