Isolation

What happens if I test positive for COVID-19?

Contact Boise State Public Health at publichealth@boisestate.edu or (208) 426-2968 to discuss your test results, to be given isolation instructions, and to be connected with campus isolation resources.

In order to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and in alignment with CDC isolation recommendations and Boise State’s communicable disease policy, you will be asked to:

    • Isolate and avoid in-person campus activities for at least 5 days from the start of symptoms or the date of a positive COVID-19 test.
        • Stay in a separate room from other people, and use a separate bathroom if you can.
        • Wear a well-fitting facial covering if you must be around others in your home.
    • By day 6 you can be cleared to leave isolation by Boise State Public Health if your symptoms are improving and you have no fever without fever-reducing medication for 24 hours.  Individuals continuing not to feel well may need to extend their isolation period.
    • Contact your healthcare provider as needed to discuss your test results and available treatment options.
    • Continue to take extra precautions until day 10.
        • Wear a well-fitting mask for 10 full days any time you are around others inside your home or in public. Do not go to places where you are unable to wear a mask.
        • Do not travel until a full 10 days after your symptoms started or the date your positive test was taken if you had no symptoms.
        • Avoid being around people who are more likely to get very sick from COVID-19.

Public Health will also involve the following campus community members as needed to support you:

    • Your faculty and the Office of the Dean of Students (if you’re enrolled in classes)
    • Supervisor (if you’re employed on campus)

What happens if I live on campus and test positive for COVID-19?

If you live on campus and test positive for COVID-19, please contact Boise State Public Health at publichealth@boisestate.edu or (208) 426-2968. A Public Health team member will call you to discuss your situation and assist you with next steps, which may include isolation.

What should I do if I’m experiencing symptoms?

If you are experiencing COVID-19 symptoms, begin isolating and notify the Boise State Public Health at publichealth@boisestate.edu or (208) 426-2968 immediately. A Public Health team member will reach out to you by phone or email to determine next steps and share guidance.
