Programming With Python

Brian Jackson, Associate Boise State Professor of Physics, presented on learning Python for data science during the 2023 Research Computing Days event at Boise State University. Jackson’s presentation focused on Carpentry Python Software and how it is used for data science.

Jackson covered a wide range of Python basics including variables, data types, arrays, and plotting, and presented on using libraries like NumPy, provided an introduction to Jupyter notebooks, and demonstrated how to create plots from arrays. The workshop was aimed at those new to Python programming in a research context to teach foundational coding skills.
