Graduation Process

Graduation Process Overview

  1. Apply for graduation. This notifies the Registrar’s Office of your plan to graduate. If you apply late, there is a late fee.
  2. Pay the graduation application fee in Student Center. You have 48 hours to pay or you will need to reapply.
  3. An evaluator will review your application and email you with the result in 6 weeks.
  4. Complete your courses successfully and attend a commencement ceremony.
  5. Receive your diploma by mail 3-4 weeks after commencement.

Eligibility to Graduate

To ensure your candidacy, please review your degree information on myBoiseState with your academic advisor. A graduation evaluator will review your Academic Advisement Report (AAR) after the 10th day of classes in the semester you intend to graduate (it takes approximately 6 weeks to review all applications for graduation). Upon review of your application, you will receive an email notifying you of your graduation status. You will be considered a valid candidate if you are enrolled in all outstanding requirements.

Applying for Graduation

Apply for graduation by logging on to your myBoiseState Student Center account. For further instruction on where and how to apply online, please read the Apply For Graduation Help Document.

Graduation Application Fee

A nonrefundable graduation application fee must be paid when applying. The application fee is $20.00 for undergraduate degrees, undergraduate certificates, and graduate certificates, and $25.00 for Master’s/Doctoral candidates. This fee covers the cost of your printed diploma and diploma cover. If you are earning two degrees at the same time, you must pay the fee for each degree.

All graduating students must pay the graduation application fee, regardless of whether you intend to participate in commencement and regardless of whether you wish to receive a diploma.

Deadlines and Late Fees

The application deadline is the end of the first week of the semester you intend to graduate (see the Academic Calendar for the exact date). A late fee will be applied after the application deadline of $20.00 for undergraduate degrees, undergraduate certificates, and graduate certificates, and $25.00 for Master’s/Doctoral candidates. The last day to apply for graduation with a late fee is the last day of classroom instruction.
