Research Compliance recently revised the exempt protocol application used by the university’s Institutional Review Boards (IRB), and it is available on IRB Forms and Templates. Research Compliance will require use of the revised EXEMPT application after November 1, 2019 and will not accept submissions using an older version after this date. The researcher will be required to re-submit using the new version. Researchers are welcome to use the new application now.
Why the changes? Research Compliance updated the application back in January. Since that time, application reviewers have repeatedly come across key pieces of information missing from the application. The missing information requires additional followup with researchers and increases the time needed for review. Research Compliance is hoping the additional sections will help reduce some of this followup and decrease review times.
