Updates for Tracking Cost Share

Hello All,

The Post-Award team in OSP is excited to kick off the project to transition from cost-share affidavits to cost-share projects. The use of projects offers several benefits to departments, colleges, and Principal Investigators including: the ability to identify cost share costs when incurred instead of having to search for them later, eliminating the deliverable emails quarterly which require some action on the business manager/department administrators part, ensuring that cost share expenditures are not attached to more than one project, save time in the long run by only touching each transaction once, and it will tie each transaction to invoices submitted to the sponsor which we hope will add transparency to everyone.

We are planning to offer training and provide the documentation to make managing these projects as easy as possible over the next several months and will communicate those opportunities when they are scheduled/available.

The first step we are taking is to stop setting up awards to utilize cost share affidavits immediately. This means that any new awards that come in will now automatically be set up with at least one cost-share project, more if required for multiple funding sources.
