Head of NSF Engineering Directorate Visits Boise State

Next week Dr. Susan Margulies who leads the National Science Foundation (NSF) Engineering directorate and manages an annual budget of nearly $800 million will be here at Boise State. You are invited to hear her speak as part of her all-day visit to campus on Wednesday, November 8th. The Engineering directorate provides over 40 percent of federal funding for fundamental research in engineering to academic institutions.

Who Should Attend?

This presentation will be of interest to faculty and staff who want to know more about the NSF in general from someone with real organizational authority and understanding and will also address activity and funding opportunities within the Engineering directorate that apply to our institutional and regional needs. Special Lightning Talks Event: Cybersecurity Matters

In support of Partnerships of the Future: Forging U.S. and Southern Africa Networks, Boise State University is hosting a collaborative Lightning Talks event with University of Namibia, Stellenbosch University, National Science Foundation, and U.S. Department of State. Lightning Talks are an hour long Zoom call event where audience members can hear several researchers and other participants discuss their work, but in a very short time span.

We will hear speakers from Boise State University, University of Namibia, Stellenbosch University, National Science Foundation, and U.S. Department of State, followed by focused discussions about their particular areas of interest in Zoom breakout rooms. We anticipate attendance by faculty members and senior research officers from nearly 30 universities in South Africa, Namibia, and the United States, as well as officials from National Research Foundation (South Africa), National Commission on Research, Science and Technology (Namibia), National Science Foundation, U.S. Department of State, U.S. Agency for International Development, and National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine.
