Summary
The G. Harold and Leila Y. Mathers Foundation funds innovative basic research with translational implications, aiming to bring discoveries closer to clinical application. Funding supports early-stage discoveries that drive innovation and lay the groundwork for future medical breakthroughs. Specifically, the Mathers Foundation supports the following research areas: immunology, microbiome, structural biology, cellular physiology, cancer biology, genetics, genomics, microbiology and infectious diseases, stem cell biology, and neuroscience. The Mathers Foundation will not fund requests for clinical trials or drug discovery.

$700,000 for three (3) years.
Limited Submission Requirements and Timeline
Three (3) Letters of Intent (LOI) per institution per grant cycle.
Notice of Interest Process. Only LOIs approved by the Division of Research and Economic Development may be submitted to this program. For such approval, Principal Investigator (PI) must first submit a Notice of Interest to limitedsubmissions@boisestate.edu by 4 pm on June 16, 2025. The Notice of Interest must indicate the PI and Co-PIs, collaborator names and affiliations, and a brief, one paragraph description of the proposed project.

- June 20, 2025 – Anticipated date applicants will be notified of approval
- September 19, 2025 – Institution Nominations and Portal Registration due to Mathers Foundation
- September 24, 2025 – Preliminary budget due to OSP
- September 26, 2025 – LOI documents due to OSP
- October 3, 2025 – LOI due to Mathers Foundation
- December 5, 2025 – All final proposal documents due to OSP
- December 12, 2025 – Invited full proposal due to Mathers Foundation
