About Chandra Reyna

Chandra Reyna graduated from BSU in 2017 with degrees in Sociology, Ethnic Studies, and Psychology. She is now a doctoral candidate in the Department of Sociology at the University of Maryland, College Park and a National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellow. For the next few years, she will be conducting her dissertation fieldwork in the Treasure Valley.

Research interests:

Her dissertation—which is titled “More than a Monolith: Later-Generation Latinx Motherwork and Motherhood Ideologies”—explores how third+ generation Latinx mothers not only experience motherhood but how their social location, generation in the United States, and experience with racialization informs their motherwork and mothering ideologies.

When she is not working on her dissertation or teaching for the Sociology department, she can be found just up the hall working with McNair Scholar’s on their journey to graduate school. Please feel free to reach out to her with any research related or graduate school questions!
