Assistant Professor Vinita Sharma recently completed a fellowship with the seventh cohort of the ASSERT Faculty Development program. Sharma began her fellowship fall 2022 and joined 12 other Boise State University faculty to identify values, build leadership skills and work toward transformational research.

What was your experience like with ASSERT?
I had an amazing experience being an ASSERT Fellow. It helped me reassure my scientific acumen and build a network of colleagues and mentors who I know I can count on.
What was your final ASSERT pitch about?
My final pitch was about how I want to create and implement substance use prevention interventions aimed at children and adolescents through their grandparents in the State of ID.
What was your biggest takeaway from the ASSERT fellowship?
My biggest takeaway from the fellowship was that none of us are islands and that leaning on each other’s expertise helps us design better research projects.
