Assistant Professor

Priyanka Dubey completed her PhD in Community and Behavioral Health from the University of Iowa in 2024.
Priyanka’s research highlights the social and structural barriers that gender-diverse people encounter in achieving menstrual, sexual, and reproductive health, aiming to inform programs that promote health equity and de-gender these health services. Her current research focuses on understanding how stigma results in adverse health outcomes for transgender and gender-diverse (TGD) people.
Methodologically, she employs principles of community-engaged research and qualitative methods while centering community voices. She is committed to listening to people’s experiences and understanding their behaviors and attitudes to bring marginalized perspectives to the forefront.
Prior to her PhD, Priyanka worked for eight years in the international development sector in India, where she evaluated programs related to maternal and child health and sexual and reproductive health. She holds a Master’s in Social Work (2010) and a BA in Sociology (2008), both from the University of Mumbai, which provide additional depth to her community-centered approach to public health research.
