The Andrus Center is a champion of public education. It is our goal to ensure our children can compete in an increasingly global economy.  This will be done through providing early learning opportunities so all children entering kindergarten are ready for success, attracting and retaining qualified teachers by offering a competitive pay scale and rewarding experience, and by supporting post-secondary programs and public/private partnerships that foster a prepared workforce.

2023- School Readiness: Preparing Every Child to Learn

Previously scheduled in April of 2020, this conference will now be hosted May 9, 2023. 

Eight years ago, the Andrus Center’s Finding Common Ground conference focused on Idaho’s need for early education building blocks that communities could use to customize programs to their individual needs. Eight years later, we want to continue the conversation, spotlighting innovative solutions being implemented throughout our state and ensuring all Idaho children can access the tools they need to enter school ready to learn.

2015 – Early Learning in Idaho: Finding Common Ground

Boise State University’s Andrus Center and the University of  Idaho’s McClure Center co-hosted a nonpartisan dialogue on learning opportunities for Idaho’s young children on May 4, 2015. The two organizations joined together to identify an Idaho approach to increase the share of children who enter kindergarten prepared for success in school and later life.  Over 200 legislators, educators, business people, and parents attended the one-day symposium.
