Housing Security

Affordable housing is a foundation of healthy communities and long-term prosperity; providing stability, reducing stress, and allowing individuals to prioritize healthy living.

The following dashboards help better understand the state of housing in the EIPH area.

Point in Time Count

Every year, Idaho Housing and Finance Association (IHFA) releases a report describing the results of the Point in Time (PIT) count. This count is taken in January, usually by volunteers and employees of homelessness organizations. These representative count the number of people experiencing homeless on a single day. Information collected is found on the IHFA website.

Severe Housing Burden

Housing burden is calculated by the US Census Bureau. The number indicates the amount of households paying more the 50% of income on housing costs. The data is part of the American Community Survey. The data is updated annually, but there is usually a slight delay. The dashboard below provides detailed information.
