Do you ever feel like you can’t catch a break? It’s easy to get swept away by the busyness of school, work and life which is why it’s so important to take the time to put the work away and slow down. Yes, there are always fun things happening on campus and events and hangouts to fill your calendar with, but sometimes an “in” night with roommates or by yourself is needed. Here are 5 ½ things you can do to have a perfect cozy night in.
1) Clean your space
Start the evening with a mess-free room so you can peacefully enjoy your environment. Believe me, your brain will feel less decluttered if your space is decluttered.
2) Cozy up
Put on comfy clothes, light a candle, bundle up in a blanket and relax. Do whatever makes you most relaxed. If that means taking a bubble bath, by all means go for it. And if the mood strikes, take an evening nap. You’ll wake up thinking you’re in a different dimension.
3) Cook up something yummy
Make a hot drink and whip up your favorite fall snacks — something with pumpkin or cinnamon of course. Check out our easy recipes to make yourself a good meal that won’t take too long or break the bank.
4) Care for your soul
Do something that brings your soul rest and happiness. It could be doing a craft project, or cooking, or going for a walk, or calling a friend. Think of whatever you wish you made more time for —- then make time for it!
5) Catch up on entertainment
After working your brain all day, sometimes you just need to check out and give yourself a brain break to enjoy some good ol’ entertainment. Take the opportunity to catch up on a good book or show. Fall means it’s time to binge-watch Gilmore Girls.
5 ½) Calm your expectations
Have an idea of how you’d like to spend your time, but you don’t need a plan. Only plan to give yourself the space and grace to decompress at your own pace. You don’t need to be productive. You’re a human being, not a human “doing”. Need more ways to actually relax when you have a break? We have more ideas!
