“The Chinese Tourist” to Screen at the LA Women in Film Festival

The Boise State Film and Television Arts program’s Narrative Television Initiative’s recent production of “The Chinese Tourist” is an official selection for the LA Women in Film Festival. In-person screenings will take place in Los Angeles this fall through the end of the year.

“The Chinese Tourist” was produced by the The Narrative Television Initiative, a multi-semester project offering classes in which students write, film, and produce three episodes of an original TV series. “The Chinese Tourist” was written by and stars Di Bei, a recent graduate of the MFA creative writing program at Boise State. Students from each discipline within the Department of Theatre, Film and Creative Writing contributed to the making of the film—from writing and development to production and post-production. The poster featured in this news update was designed by Jackie Rojas in the NTVI practicum last spring.

According to the festival’s website, the LA Women in Film Festival “champions female identifying filmmakers and female driven storytelling.” The LA Film Festival features live screenings and attracts filmmakers from around the world.
