Darrin Pufall Purdy

About Prof. Pufall Purdy

Professor Pufall Purdy is an Associate Professor of Theatre Arts with a specialization in Costume Design and technology at Boise State University. Darrin also serves as the Director of Theatre. Holding an MFA in costume design and technology from the University of Florida in Gainesville and a BFA in musical theatre performance from Rockford University in Illinois,  Darrin has worked for many notable companies across the United States, including The Idaho Shakespeare Festival, Artist Repertory Theatre (Portland, Oregon), Mock’s Crest Productions through the University of Portland and The Forestburgh Playhouse (Forestburgh, New York).  Additionally, Darrin’s work has been part of touring productions in Brazil and Russia.

Darrin’s design work has been recognized with a Portland Drammy Award for A Little Night Music (2009), in addition to three Portland Area Musical Theatre Awards for his designs of The Pirates of Penzance (2008),  A Little Night Music (2009) and Into the Woods (2020). Pufall Purdy’s research seeks to document the garb of orders of women religious to offer suitable and accurate resources for costume designers when producing stories that depict religious communities. He is a proud member of United Scenic Artists, Local USA 829.
