Rick Woods is the only player in Boise State history to receive first team All-Big Sky Conference honors four times. Woods won three first team awards as a defensive back from 1979-81, and was named first team all-league as a return specialist in 1981. Woods received Kodak and Gannett News All-American honors following his senior seasons in 1981. He also received honorable mention Associated Press All-American honors his sophomore and junior seasons. Woods currently holds Big Sky Conference records for Most Punts Returned in a career: 113; and for Most Punt Returns in a Game: 9 vs. Idaho State, 1979; Most Punt Returns in a Season: 45, 1980; and Most Punt Returns in a Career: 113, 1978-80. IN 1980 Woods helped the Broncos to the NCAA Division I-AA National Championship. He completed his collegiate career by playing in the Blue-Gray Game and Olympia Gold Bowl. Woods was a second round draft pick of the Pittsburgh Steelers in 1982 and played with the team until 1987. He completed his professional career with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
