Wendell Lawrence is a two-time NCAA All-American in the triple jump. He placed seventh in the triple jump at the 1987 NCAA Indoor National Championships, and fourth at the 1988 NCAA Indoor National Championships. Four times Lawrence won individual Big Sky Conference Championships in the triple jump. He won back-to-back indoor crowns in 1987 and 1988, and consecutive outdoor titles the same years. Lawrence holds the schools records or the indoor triple jump at 54-9 and the outdoor mark at 55-6. He also has a the Big Sky Conference outdoor meet record at 53-10, and is the all-time league record holder in the triple jump at 55-6. Lawrence set a Broncos Stadium record in the triple jump in 1992 with a leap of 56-5 ΒΌ. The mark eventually led him to a 12th place finish at the 1992 Barcelona Olympic Games. His top international finish came in 1991, when he earned a Bronze medal at the Pan American Games.
