**This is a new VIP that will be starting Spring 2026**
What is the ambitious goal of this project?
The opioid crisis has had a profound impact on individuals and society. Although current opioid replacement therapies (ORTs) can alleviate withdrawal symptoms and support abstinence, the risk of relapse persists across the lifespan. To develop more effective neuromodulatory interventions, it is critical to understand how opioid exposure alters brain cells and circuits.
