Sin Ming Loo, 2023 Innovation Award Finalist

Cybersecurity Learning: An Accessible, Online Approach

Sin Ming, working with industry and Extended Studies, created a “Cyber for All” ecosystem including three successful online programs: the Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Applied Science, and Master Degree in Cyber Operations and Resilience programs.

These efforts have had a significant impact in their first year of operation. The programs’ online format and partnerships with industry leaders and community colleges have made it accessible to students across the nation, including veterans and historically marginalized students. The program’s success has been demonstrated by the enrollment of 300+ students in its first year alone.

During a recent joint press announcement, College of Eastern Idaho’s President Rick Aman and Boise State University’s President Marlene Tromp described Ming’s programming as a “radically affordable degree path” for students seeking a career in cybersecurity. Ming’s commitment to providing high-quality education in a rapidly growing field, while expanding program reach, is evident. Students are now able to receive the bachelor degree needed for a high-demand career in cybersecurity, without having to leave their home.
