Video Transcript – REP4 Overview

Video Transcript

[Narrator]: This is a creation story, or more appropriately, a re-creation’s story. We as learners and teachers have an opportunity to write the next chapter of the way we teach that fits the way we actually learn. The best creations come from confronting barriers, disrupting the comfortable, and imagining and designing solutions that work. Here are some notable challenges.

[Narrator]: Education’s roots are in a sequential model: put in parts one through four, tests, and produce a graduate. Education remains the best path for prosperity, but it lives in the system that increasingly leaves people behind and others in debt. REP4 is a wide open invitation to those who are curious about what changes students wanna see, and to all who have unbounded thinking about how to design vibrant possibilities, not just straight paths.

[High school student 1]: I want my college experience to be fun, but also creative.

[High school student 2]: I’m more of a hands-on learner.

[High school student 3]: In small groups with my peers.

[High school student 4]: And having like skills to apply in the workforce.

[High school student 2]: A positive environment.

[High school student 5]: Diversity and how to go about approaching cultures.

[High school student 6]: And I really wanna work with professionals.

[High school student 7]: I would love to immerse myself and just to see different perspectives on life.

[High school student 8]: I kind of don’t wanna deal with student debt.

[Narrator]: We hear you. Learners are sharing their lived experiences. They are available and want to be the lead designers, the co-creators of the future of learning. Different perspectives or just one gift of a diverse learning community. We owe it to our collective futures to take this moment to provide educational equity. Education is the number one path to social mobility. We are collaborating with institutions across the country creating opportunities for innovation and real-life experience. We’re committed to shifting power from institutions to the people and communities we serve. We will attain systemic change through open knowledge sharing. This new partnership will create an exponential impact. Together we will innovate, inspire, elevate, scale, and share. We will grow across numerous institutions with hundreds of prototypes and thousands of learners. We will recreate and co-create a system that doesn’t feel like a system, one designed by learners to serve learners – all learners.
