Broncos Of the Last Decade

Being a Bronco is About Being BOLD

Being a Bronco is all about being BOLD — being fearless, standing out from the crowd, and being confident in your choices. By graduating from Boise State, you have made a BOLD choice that will impact you for the rest of your life. BOLD is Broncos of the Last Decade, our way to keep our most recent graduates connected and engaged.

Meet Martha Mendoza

The Succulent Specialist

Follow A Succulent Day on Instagram and you’ll feast on images of a bright shop filled with an unimaginable number of succulents and other plants – living things large and small, plants hanging or potted in bright containers, cacti as living art pieces coaxed into wreaths and bridal bouquets. The shop, at 3017 W. State St. in Boise, is the brainchild of Martha Mendoza, a 2010 graduate of Boise State. Mendoza received a bachelor’s degree in bilingual elementary education.

Meet HannaLore Hein

Boise State graduate becomes the state’s historian

In the summer of 2019, HannaLore Hein became the fifth state historian at the Idaho State Historical Society, and the first woman to hold the job since it became a credentialed position in the 1950s. That fact feels timely. In 2020 the society will mark the centennial of the 19th Amendment that recognized women’s right to vote. Hein will help oversee events, exhibitions and legacy projects, including a book and a film, that will chart women’s contributions to the state.

Meet Heidi Ware-Carlisle

Alumna shares her passion for birds

As the education and outreach director for the Intermountain Bird Observatory (IBO), Boise State alumna Heidi Ware Carlisle (BA, biology, ‘11; MA, biology, ‘15) facilitates experiences for the public that are decidedly scientific – like learning about banding and weighing hummingbirds, songbirds and owls – but border on magical.
