Student Travel and Visiting Artists

Student Travel

Funded, faculty-led graduate student travel opportunities are provided for MFA students each academic year. Excursions include visits to museums, artist studios, art centers, and galleries. Recent destinations include New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, Seattle, Boston, Houston, and San Francisco.

Visiting Artists

Every year, the Department of Art, Design & Visual Studies brings established artists and scholars to campus to interact with students, provide graduate studio critiques, lead workshops, and give lectures. For more information, including past visitors see the Visiting Artist and Scholar Program.

Sun Valley Museum of Art Teaching Artist Partnersnip

The Teaching Artist partnership between The Sun Valley Museum of Art and Boise State University brings graduate students from Boise State’s Department of Art, Design and Visual Studies to the Wood River Valley to engage with the community. Boise State Teaching Artists will design and lead workshops for students of all ages and abilities in mediums of the artists’ choosing, to introduce participants to art processes through hands-on learning, lectures, and demonstrations. 2023-2024 is the pilot year of this program.
