The priority application deadline for the Master of Athletic Training program is November 15th. Students meeting this deadline will receive preference in the admissions review process; International applicants are strongly encouraged to follow this deadline. Applications will continue to be accepted until the regular application deadline, February 15th, or until the cohort is full (Summer 2025 application status- OPEN).

Our program has several fees that will need to be paid by students, that are not included in the tuition and fees of college attendance.
Other AT program student expenses include:
- National Athletic Trainers Association Student Membership: $70
- Healthcare Provider CPR/AED certification (one time): $50
- Background Check (Castlebranch): $65
- Athletic Training BOC examination (final semester): $300
Additionally, students are responsible for expenses related to:
- Clinical Course Fees. Examples include expendable supplies, equipment, calibration, clinical instruction, software licensing: 1st year- $803 / 2nd year- $657
- Transportation to and from off-campus clinical education facilities. Students are expected to drive themselves to distant off-campus clinical rotations as assigned; up to 45 minutes away from campus one-way. (Approximately $100/year)
- Appropriate clothing (casual slacks/shorts and Boise State shirts) for clinical education rotations (Approximately $100/year)
- Physical examination, Vaccinations, Titer or other medical expenses for application
Financial Aid
For out of state students, the Western Regional Graduate Program (WRGP) allows master’s, graduate certificate, and doctoral students who are residents of WICHE (Western Interstate Commission for Higher Education) member states to enroll in 800+ graduate programs at some 60 public institutions outside of their home state and pay up to 150 percent of resident tuition. The Boise State Masters of Athletic Training degree participates in WICHE.

How to apply and what you’ll need
- Apply to the Graduate College and satisfy the minimum admissions requirements of the Graduate College. International applicants must satisfy the international admissions requirements.
- A baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited U.S. institution of higher learning or a degree from a non-U.S. institution of higher education that is judged equivalent to a U.S. baccalaureate degree by the International Admissions Office.
- Boise State does not participate in centralized application programming (ATCAS), however applicants my upload saved documents created through such programs to reduce duplication if necessary.
- Prerequisite undergraduate coursework – Admissions will rate candidates based on grades received in prerequisite coursework and overall GPA as one area of candidate screening; a B or higher is preferred in prerequisite courses. The GRE is not required for admission, however, if you feel results from a GRE test you have taken will bolster your application please submit your results.

- Writing Sample – Responses to two Athletic Training specific questions
- Minimum of two letters of recommendation are required for application to the MAT. It is recommended that at least 1 of the recommendations be from an individual directly supervised you and can speak to any prior sports medicine experiences you have gained.

- Final candidate screening will require an online interview with the admission committee.
Upon notice of acceptance to the MAT, candidates must complete the following documents (technical standards & health history/physical exam) and upload into the application within 30 days to complete the admission process. Candidates must complete the documents prior to starting the program.
