Research Interests

Dr. Glenn directs BCAL where current research focuses on soil and vegetation characterization with lidar and imaging spectroscopy (hyperspectral) for ecological structure and function, and modeling. Most of her research is focused in dryland ecosystems and understanding how these ecosystems respond to changes in climate and disturbance.  Research at BCAL also focuses on methodological development of point cloud analysis tools, hyperspectral data fusion, and unmanned aerial systems (UAS). Most recently, BCAL has expanded their research to incorporate the human dimension. Dr. Glenn was a Founding Director of the Human-Environment Systems Initiative, an intensive research effort at Boise State University that couples the human and biophysical sciences and which is located in the College of Innovation and Design.

Dr. Glenn began Idaho State University’s remote sensing program in the Department of Geosciences in Pocatello in 2000, and expanded it to include Idaho Falls and Boise campuses. In 2013, Dr. Glenn joined the Department of Geosciences at Boise State University. Dr. Glenn’s experience in remote sensing processing and interpretation ranges from synthetic aperture radar (SAR), hyperspectral, multitemporal multispectral, and lidar (airborne laser scanning (ALS), and terrestrial laser scanning (TLS)). Her work also incorporates visualization, geostatistics, machine learning, high resolution global positioning systems (GPS) and the use of geographic information systems (GIS) for field validation and analysis of spectroscopy, ALS, and TLS data.
