Chemistry Alum to Present at This Week’s Seminar

Portrait of Dr. Pete L. Barnes
Dr. Pete Barnes, chemistry and material sciences alum from Boise State University, now a postdoctoral research assistant and the Idaho National Laboratory.

Dr. Pete L. Barnes, chemistry and materials sciences alum at Boise State University, will present “An Experience from Boise State University: Creating Yourself, Not Finding Yourself” at the September 23rd department seminar located in EDUC 112. Dr. Barnes is a postdoctoral research assistant at the Idaho National Laboratory and author of several energy and battery-materials research papers.  As an undergraduate, Pete worked with Dr. Don Warner on chemical drug synthesis.  His graduate mentor in Materials Science was Dr. Hui (Claire) Xiong, where he “explored the degradation of sodium electrolytes” in the production of sodium- and lithium-based battery materials.  His seminar presentation is targeted at students and will go over his personal background and experiences as a student, and how and why he was successful in his academic pursuits.  We are very excited to have one of our own return and present at our seminar series this week!
