Program Information
How long does it take to get a master's degree in the accelerated master's program?
The accelerated master’s program takes approximately 2 years, but this depends on the number of courses you take for your undergraduate degree that can count towards your master’s. Currently the courses offered that will count towards both degrees are CHEM 401/501 Advanced Inorganic Chemistry, CHEM 408/508 Advanced Organic Synthesis, CHEM 411/511 Advanced Analytical Chemistry, and CHEM 440/540 Spectrometric Identification.
How many classes does it take to get a master's degree?
To get a master’s in chemistry degree you must complete 30 credits and successfully defend your thesis. For more specific information on the credits required please visit Master of Science in Chemistry on the Boise State University Graduate College website.
What kind of jobs can I do with a master's in chemistry that I can’t with a bachelor's in chemistry?
This varies by industry, but in general, advanced tech positions with higher salaries require more than a bachelor’s degree. Research & development departments also require more than a bachelor’s degree, too!
Is there any reason you would not recommend this to students? (seems too good to be true)
If you intend on pursuing a Ph.D. in chemistry, this program is not recommended for you.
