Geosciences Students Earn Scholarships

SME Student Scholarships

Eight Boise State students received $3,500 in scholarships earlier this week from the Society for Mining,Metallurgy and Exploration – Boise Section. The students received their awards at a technical session at the Riverside Hotel in Boise, where they presented posters of their research across a spectrum of disciplines, including geology, geochemistry and geophysics. The event was attended by a variety of industry and consulting professionals, in addition to faculty, undergraduate and graduate students.

Those receiving scholarships are: Alyssa Chase, Molly Anderson, Matt Von Lintig, Jesse Walters, Josh Ekhoff, Buchanan Kerswell, Robin Trayler and Tom Colby.

The SME is a professional society with representatives serving the minerals industry in more than 100 countries. SME members include engineers, geologists, metallurgists, educators, students and researchers. SME advances the worldwide mining and underground construction community through information exchange and professional development.
