Idaho Dance Theatre Presents ‘Friends and Lovers’ Nov. 17-20

Two dancers embracing.

Idaho Dance Theatre (IDT) will present Friends and Lovers, a performance choreographed by artistic director Marla Hansen, which incorporates Shakespeare’s Sonnets, presented as spoken word, with movement that physically conveys our connections to those we most cherish. Each performance Nov. 17-20 will take place at the Boise State Special Events Center.

Performance times and tickets can be found by visiting http://www.idahodancetheatre.org/box-office/. Tickets also can be purchased at the door: $10 for students; $15 for military members, seniors, and Boise State faculty and staff; $20 for general admission; and $30 for preferred seating.

The performance includes the premiere of Love to Cher, her life and music, choreographed by the talented IDT company member Taylor Munson. It features Yurek Hansen/ Zackary Anderson and all 10 IDT female dancers performing to Cher songs including I’ve Got You Babe, Bang Bang, You Haven’t seen the Last of Me, and Believe.

Alyssa Tolman’s complete screen dance film of Marla Hansen’s pas de duex, Home, featuring Yurek Hansen and Sayoko Knode also will be premiered. This beautiful collaboration filmed in the Boise train depot takes us to the moment when two lovers are reunited.

IDT also will present Caballa, choreographed by Fred Hansen to the music of Astor Piazzolla’s nuevo tango, plus a new work for the entire company performed to the instrumental music from Nine Inch Nails’ Ghosts, with choreography by Tolman and Marla and Yurek Hansen. This work explores our isolation in a world that is beset with technology and social media.
