  • Dont-Tell-Anyone-poster-486x739Tuesday, Feb. 28: a special sneak preview of “The Apology,” with a discussion following the screening led by the filmmaker, Tiffany Hsiung. The film follows the personal journeys of three former “comfort women” from China, Korea and the Philippines, who were kidnapped by the Japanese Army during World War II and forced into sexual slavery.
  • Friday, March 3: “No le Digas a Nadie” (“Don’t Tell Anyone”), with a discussion following the screening with filmmaker Mikaela Shwer and the subject of the documentary, Angy Rivera. An aspiring college student, Rivera was brought to the U.S. as a child by her undocumented mother. The film follows her struggles to go to college as she lives in the shadows of the undocumented with no access to financial aid.

The Family of Woman Film Festival presents international filmmakers, film subjects and speakers to raise awareness of the difficulties women and girls face throughout the world to gain access to basic health care, education and human rights.

The bulk of festival events will take place in Ketchum and Sun Valley. The festival opens there with the Filmmaker Retrospective on Feb. 27, when Sedika Mojadidi presents her documentary “Motherland Afghanistan.” On Feb. 28, the Bonni Curran Memorial lecture will feature Sarah Costa, executive director of the Women’s Refugee Commission.

March 2 features another sneak preview screening of “The Apology,” March 3 is “The Eagle Huntress,” March 4 is “No le Digas a Nadie” and “Motley’s Law,” and March 5 is “Sonita.”
