Join the Boise State Department of Physics for a public stargazing party at 7:30 p.m. Friday, March 3. The evening includes a lecture on extrasolar planets and what we can learn from them, presented by Kaloyan Penev of Princeton University.
The free event starts at 7:30 p.m. in the Multipurpose Classroom Building Room 101 and then moves to the top of the Brady Parking Garage at 8:30 p.m., where telescopes will be set up for stargazing (weather permitting). There are many planetary systems in the universe, each unique in their own way. Many exciting and unusual extrasolar planets have been discovered. Some are tiny, some are huge, and some don’t even have stars. Join the party and learn about how astronomers find planetary systems that are not our own, what they can teach us and what will happen to them in the future.
