On Saturday, March 25, the Idaho Supreme Court hosted the first Ethics Review and Written Exam Preparation Course. This training is part of the redesigned Idaho Court Interpreter Training and Certification Program, and was facilitated by Department of World Languages instructor Fatima Cornwall. Twenty certification candidates worked diligently to improve their skills and understanding of the profession.
Additionally, everyone was delighted and encouraged by the welcoming comments offered by the Honorable Justice Robyn Brody. Earlier in her career, Justice Brody worked closely with translators and interpreters. As such, she understands the pressures interpreters face when working in court. During her remarks, Justice Brody reminded participants how important ethical behavior is “even under the most pressing of circumstances.”
