James Jirak has been named a 2017 recipient for the prestigious Mayor’s Awards for Excellence in Art and History award. Jirak was awarded the Excellence in Education award.
Presented every two years, the awards celebrate people, organizations and businesses that have contributed to Boise’s cultural community.
“We are pleased to honor those in our community who cultivate an inspired and inclusive culture. Their earnest and tenacious efforts strengthen our community, and by extension, our connection to one another,” said Mayor Dave Bieter. “We are grateful for their commitment to spark curiosity, initiate collaboration, foster dialogue, and offer opportunities to reflect and grow.”
Award recipients must have demonstrated distinguished service, creative accomplishment or other work to benefit the artistic, historic and broader cultural life of Boise.
