Have you ever wondered if Argentina had a Wild West? If the Amazon experienced a gold rush? Why settlers are sometimes pioneers and other times invaders?
At noon, Oct. 12, in the Student Union Lookout Room, join visiting professors German Palacio of the National University of Colombia, Leticia, and Gregory Gordon of Gonzaga University, along with Emily Wakild of Boise State University in a discussion of the ways frontiers can be fruitfully compared across the Americas.
The discussion will range from mining and protected areas to the dynamics of social change in frontier lands.
Boise State’s Brian Wampler will moderate the panel, which is free and open to the public. Audience participation is welcome.
