#COASpotlight: Ona Law, Department of English

OnaLaw

Meet Ona Law. Management Assistant for the Department of English.
Ona’s favorite part of her job is working with the faculty and students (such good people), and the variety of duties that her job encompasses. She is never bored. The most difficult part of her job is finding space for faculty, lecturers, and teaching assistants. There just isn’t enough room for everyone. Ona is proud of her family, and she is also proud of the many friends she has made at work, and the opportunities she has taken to improve her skills and grow. Ona believes that everyone should be treated with friendliness, no matter who they are or what you personally are going through. Wise words we can all learn from, Ona. And if you have met Ona, you know she practices what she preaches. Ona is a one of a kind, generous individual who always has a smile and a kind word.
Onto some fun things we didn’t know about Miss Ona. Her favorite song, “I’d love you to want me” by Lobo; her favorite movie is “As Good as it Gets” and her favorite book is “Christy”. Her favorite vacation was to Canada, eh. She loved the lakes and the greenery. Ona loves to golf, bowl, hike, garden and read. She enjoys hiking with the grandkids, this makes her happy. One thing to note, Ona is deathly afraid of dentists! And she can’t handle you saying “You obviously don’t know who I am!” So, just introduce yourself. She’ll treat you like the royalty you really are. Something you may be surprised to know about Ona, she was raised in foster homes from the age of 12. As Ona closes this chapter of her Boise State book, she is retiring after 26 years of service, she wants to be healthy enough to do what she is doing and ride off into the sunset.
All the best to you, Ona. Thank you for your kindness, your smile, your kind words and thank you for being you. All the best as you ride off into your sunset.
